Quick answer: Villagers breed on their own when they have enough food (3 bread, 12 carrots, 12 potatoes or 12 beetroots each) and there are more valid beds than villagers - every bed needs 2 air blocks above it. Feed two villagers or toss them food and wait.

Step by step
- Build a safe, enclosed area so villagers cannot wander off or die to zombies.
- Place beds: at least one bed per adult villager plus one extra bed per baby you want. Each bed needs 2 empty blocks above it or it does not count.
- Make them willing: throw food at two villagers - 3 bread, or 12 carrots / potatoes / beetroots each. Farmers also share and harvest crops automatically.
- Wait: heart particles appear and a baby villager spawns after a few minutes. It grows up in 20 minutes.
- Alternative: build a crop farm inside the enclosure with one composter; a farmer villager will harvest and share food nonstop, breeding indefinitely while beds are available.
- Babies inherit no profession: they pick one as adults by claiming a free job site block (lectern = librarian, blast furnace = armorer...).
